DARRELL SMITH took an oath of office to serve as Interim Chief of Police at the Haxtun Town Hall on Monday evening, Jan. 6. Mayor Mike Ensminger administered the oath of office.
The Haxtun Town Council made significant changes to the structure of Haxtun Police Department personnel in a Monday night, Jan. 6 meeting. The Council voted to appoint Darrell Smith as Interim Police Chief. Smith took his oath of office the same evening.
The January meeting opened with regular business, in which two of the four action items listed on the agenda related to changes in the local police department. Council members voted to appoint Smith to the Interim Chief position while also addressing next steps to fill the lead role permanently.
