The Sedgwick County/Fleming boys wrestling team had a busy week starting off by traveling to Wiggins on Tuesday, Dec.10 for a dual. SCF won the dual, 51-12. Individual results for wrestlers competing out of Fleming and Haxtun are as follows:
126-pound Grant Firme over Radley Thomas by fall in 2:42.
138-pound Maddox Herskind won by forfeit.
144-pound Scotty Engle won by forfeit.
150-pound Austin Knox defeated Tavon Palmer by fall in 1:06.
The SCF team then traveled to Nebraska for a triangular against Southern Valley and Summerland. They won their dual against Summerland, 45-19, and lost to Southern Valley, 45-27.

126-pound Grant Firme defeated Luke Kester, 16-4.
138-pound Maddox Hershkind lost to Isaac Mendoza, 15-1.
144-pound Scotty Engle defeated Steven Mast by injury.
150-pound Austin Knox defeated Austin Mendoza by fall in 3:29.
165-pound Zach Statz won by forfeit.
175-pound Ryan Davis won by forfeit.

SCF then participated in the Southern Valley Invite on Friday, Dec. 13. They finished in ninth place out of 18 teams.
Individual results for varsity wrestlers competing out of Fleming and Haxtun in the Southern Valley Invite are as follows:
Freshman Grant Firme competed at 126 pounds. He won by fall over Drew Hermes of Arapahoe in 1:01; lost to Cooper Quinn of Alma by decision, 7-6; and won by fall over Dylan Brownell of Sutherland in 2:42.
Cons. Round 3 - Carter Blickenstaff of Arapahoe won by decision over Grant 10-7.
144-pound senior Scotty Engle placed first and was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. This award is voted on by each of the coaches. Engle competed against three state placers from last year. In round one, Engle won by tech fall over Connor Einspahr of Chase County, 16-1. In the quarterfinal match, he won by fall over Carter Auten of Red Cloud/Blue Hill in 4:44. The semifinal match pitted Engle against Calvin Carraher of Franklin, who he pinned in 2:32. In the Championship match, Engle won by fall over Briggs Hill of Arapahoe in 3:03.
Freshman Austin Knox competed 150 pounds. He lost to Spencer Kelley of Chase County by fall; won by decision over Prestin Horwart of Southern Valley, 15-9; and lost to Dylan Kollmorgen of Hitchcock County by fall.
Junior Zach Statz competed at 165 pounds. He lost to Wyatt Soncksen of Arapahoe by fall; won by major decision over Keaton Broeker of Southern Valley, 14-1; and lost to Tanner Vyzourek of Atwood-Rawlins County by fall.
175-pound senior Ryan Davis placed fourth. He won by fall over Gabriel McCrumb of Wauneta-Palisade in 1:25 and defeated Jacob Jezbera of Wilcox-Hildreth by decision, 7-2. In the semifinal match, Davis lost to Wyatt Seeman of Red Cloud/Blue Hill by fall. he won the consolation semifinal match by fall over Eli Karr of Red Cloud/Blue Hill in 2:21.
The wrestling team is set to travel to Wray on Saturday, Dec. 21 to participate in the 62nd Annual Bob Smith Invitational. This will be their final competition before Christmas Break.
