The Fleming Lady Wildcats have made their way to the 1A State Championships set for Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 14-16 with a Regional sweep over the Lone Star Lady Longhorns last week. The Lady Wildcats enter the 12-team bracket as the number three seed.
Fleming hosted Lone Star last Friday for Regional play. They entered the single-game tournament as the number three seed playing number 22. The Lady Wildcats cruised to the three-set win by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-10.
Junior hitters Ashley Bornhoft and Quincy Stull both hit double digits in kills in the short match. Bornhoft led with 18; Stull added 10.
Junior Ciana Lousberg and sophomore Hayley Chamberlain led behind the service line in aces with four apiece. They served for a combined 25 points. That same duo split setting duties for the night. They assisted with 18 and 13, respectively.
Bornhoft and Lousberg led at the net in blocks. Bornhoft put up three total; one solo and two assisted. Lousberg added two assisted blocks.
Junior Libero Brooke Schaefer led in the back row in digs and on serve receive. She up a combined 19 passes between the two categories.
The Lady Wildcats are set to take the court for their first match of the State Tournament at the Denver Coliseum on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m. They'll take on the winner of number six Stratton and number 11 Briggsdale. That match is scheduled for 11 a.m.
