Brenda Diane Gallegos died in faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024, at Anschutz Medical Center in Aurora at the age of 59.
Brenda was born on Aug. 13, 1965 to Clifton Belcher and Janice (McCall) Belcher in Kankakee, Ill. She was baptized on Sept. 5, 1965 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kankakee. In 1977, Brenda welcomed Warren Dermer as a father into her life. She was confirmed on March 30, 1980 at First English Lutheran Church in Sterling.
Brenda attended school in Sidney, Neb. and graduated from high school in Merino in 1984. She attended the University of Northern Colorado, graduating with a degree in Gerontology in 1988. In 1985, she married Jim Grauberger; they shared two daughters together: Amanda and Holly. In 2012, she married Jason Gallegos, and they made their home in Shelley, Idaho, Fort Morgan and Haxtun.
Brenda loved helping those in need and did a variety of human service jobs throughout her life: case manager, foster care coordinator, certified nursing assistant. She was an empathetic advocate for individuals with disabilities, a committed caregiver who supported independence and dignity and a dedicated support professional, improving the quality of life for those she cared for.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband Jason Gallegos; parents Warren and Janice Dermer; step-brothers Jon and wife Courtney Dermer and Warren Jr. Dermer; daughters Amanda and husband Daren Glover and Holly and husband Levin King; granddaughters Claire and Paige Glover and Maggie King; and grandson Liam King.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Mark and Marjorie McCall and Ed and Mildred Dermer.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Peace Lutheran Church in Sterling.
