Election cancelled; seat to be left vacant

The Fleming Town Council plans to cancel upcoming elections. With three open council seats and only two returned petitions, the November municipal election will be canceled and a vacancy will be announced for the local town council.

Seats currently held by Alex Gapter, Suzanne Wales and Cathy Castillo expire this November. Two community members, Milinda McClain Hickey and Kamie Lambrecht completed and returned petitions for four-year terms.

According to Town Clerk, Michelle Asfeld, the Council will cancel elections next month and then declare a vacant seat in January. The council will then have 60 days to appoint someone to a two-year term.
