Lady Wildcats go 1-1 last week on the road

A 1-1 week last week puts the Lady Wildcats at 4-2 on the season following a road loss to Sedg. Co. and road win over Wiggins.

The Lady Wildcats took on the Sedg. Co. Lady Cougars on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and fell in a hard-fought five-set match. Fleming battled back after losing sets one and two to take sets three and four, but a 15-7 score in the fifth set gave the Lady Cougars the victory.

The local ladies hit the road once again on Thursday, this time to Wiggins, where they swept the Lady Tigers, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-20.

The junior hitting duo of Ciana Lousberg and Ashley Bornhoft led the team in kills on both outtings. Lousberg took the top spot against Sedg. Co. with 14 kills while Bornhoft added 11. Bornhoft led on Thursday at Wiggins with 12; Lousberg added 11. Sophomore Quincy Stull also hit double digits at the net on Thursday with 10 kills.

Lousberg also contributed top number in the serving category on both nights. She served over three aces on both occasions. Junior Brooke Schaefer and sophomores Hayley Chamberlain and Hadley Stull each tallied two aces at Sedg. Co. Hadley Stull matched Lousberg's three aces at Wiggins and served 100 percent for the night.

Four Lady Wildcats put up blocks at the net against the Lady Cougars. Bornhoft led that effort with four total blocks split at one solo and three assisted. Quincy Stull followed with three assisted blocks and senior Kylie Bretz-Hoskins and Hadley Stull each tallied two assisted blocks in that contest. Bornhoft earned the lone block against Wiggins.

Setters Lousberg and Chamberlain split duties for both matches. Lousberg put up 21 assists on Tuesday while Chamberlain added nine. Chamberlain put up 18 assists on Thursday while Lousberg added 14.

Schaefer led from the back row on both outings. She put up 21 digs for each night. She received 36 serves on Tuesday and 25 on Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats are set to travel to Briggsdale on Thursday, Sept. 12 for a 5:30 p.m. match with the Lady Falcons.

Their schedule puts them back on their home court on Wednesday, Sept. 18 and Thursday, Sept. 19 for action with Peetz and Weldon Valley. Those matches are set to begin at 5:30 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
