Berkleigh Cochran recently donated over $600 to the Logan County Sheriff's Office thanks to the efforts of her own lemonade stand.
Four-year-old Cochran set up a lemonade stand at Transwest in Sterling recently, selling cookies and lemonade with hopes to raise money for the Logan County Sheriff's Office community resource program. Total, she raised $603.33 and later presented all of it to the local Sheriff's Office.
"She wanted to help kids," Berkleigh's mom, Jeannine, said of her daughter's efforts. "And she loves cops."
According to Logan County Sheriff Brett Powell funds from in the community resource program are used for local events like Trick-or-Treat Street and Blue Santa along with school safety programs.
Cochran already has ideas to set up her lemonade stand again. She planned a benefit for Hospice of the Plains that was set for Tuesday, July 30.
"It is awesome a child of this age wants to step up and help her community," said Powell.
Berkleigh is the daughter of Shawn and Jeannine Cochran, Fleming.
