Jimmy Gibbs

Jimmy "Jim" Dean Gibbs passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Sterling at the age of 72. A private remembrance gathering will be held by the family and his ashes will be scattered at a place close to his heart.

Jim was born on Jan. 15, 1952 in Sterling to Donald D. and Patricia M. (Anderson) Gibbs. He graduated in 1970 from Haxtun High School and attended Denver Automotive School and the Police Academy. He worked as a Police Officer for the Town of Haxtun, a Water Well Driller for Stewart Drilling in Sterling and a custom harvester for Gibbs Brothers Custom Harvesting in Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma. He enjoyed movies, music, reading and hunting.

Jim is survived by his mother Patricia M. Gibbs, Sterling; son Don and wife Judy Gibbs, Pueblo West; daughters Jaime and husband Jermaine Malveaux, Aurora, and Mellissa Gibbs, Sterling; granddaughter Amber and husband Bradley Weldon, Rye; grandson Tyler Gibbs, Pueblo West; sisters Penny and husband Bob Henry, Ft. Lupton, Kim and husband Steve Hughes, Platte City, Mo., and Peggy and husband Ken Gertner, Greeley.

He is preceded in death by his dad Donald D. Gibbs; sisters Daffeny (Sy) Sampson and Gail Gibbs; brother Tony Gibbs; and great-grandson Carter Weldon.
