Fleming Wildcats set several PRs; Schaefer finishes in first place in long jump

Two Fleming Wildcat relay teams and four individuals earned the right to participate in last week's 1A State Track Meet. The group made an outstanding showing, many setting personal records at Jeff Co. Stadium in Lakewood.

On Thursday, May 16, senior MadiKay Serrato competed in pole vault. She set a new personal record of eight feet, three inches for a seventh place finish.

Sophomore Emoree Lousberg competed in the 3,200-meter run on Thursday. She entered the meet as the 12th place runner and finished at State in 10th place with a time of 14:46.53.

Sophomore Jared Betley also competed in the 3,200-meter run on Thursday. He entered as the number eight seed and finished in fifth place with a PR of 11:11.34.

On Friday, May 17, Serrato competed in the 800-meter run. She entered as the 12th seed and finished the event in seventh place with a time of 2:37.42.

A girls' team of freshmen Hayley Chamberlain, Hadley Stull, Serrato and Lousberg competed in the four-by-800-meter relay on Friday afternoon. The team entered as the sixth place seed and finished in fourth place with a PR of 11:06.67.

A boys' team of senior Matix Haney, junor Kale Volkman, freshman Conner Marchant and Betley earned a ninth place finish in Friday's four-by-800-meter relay. The team set a new PR of 9:22.53.

Saturday brought gold for the Wildcat squad when sophomore Brooke Scheafer competed in long jump. She earned her first place finish with a jump of 15 feet, 9.75 inches.
