Lions Club helps hospital with vehicle purchase

WHERE there's a need there's a Lion. Haxtun Hospital was in dire need for a patient transport and pharmacy delivery vehicle. The hospital delivered almost 2,000 prescriptions and traveled over 15,000 miles last year with a vehicle that was no longer reliable. The ability to take nursing home residents to off campus appointments, such as to the dentist and ophthalmologist and back was now at risk.

Through efforts of the Haxtun Lions Club, along with the Hospital Foundation and private donations, the Hospital was able to purchase a brand-new vehicle and pay cash. The Haxtun Lions Club is a club of volunteers that seek to meet the needs of the community. Funds are raised through many activities, the most recognizable being the Lions' Cheeseburger Stand at Corn Festival. Funds raised support the community and other Lion priorities through scholarships, equipment purchases for the school and other organizations in need. Sometimes budgets just don't meet all of the needs and the Lions Club often steps in to help.

The Haxtun Lions Club started in the Spring of 1954 and is still going strong 70 years later – Roar!
