On April 6 Dance Fuzion dancers competed at the Nexstar Regional Compeitition in Denver. This year Dance Fuzion took two teams, one from the Holyoke studio and one from the Yuma studio, including two soloists.
Representing Yuma, Washington and Phillips counties, the Yuma studio team took two numbers, "Joan of Arc" and "Legacy of Legends" both performed by Ashlyn Carpenter, Grace Cochran, Hadley Kerst, Harper Barry, Jema Trejo-Mekelburg, Kaitlyn Mekelburg, Sofia Cadena and Taylor Frank. "Legacy of Legends" took first place platinum in their category and third overall and "Joan of Arc" took first place platinum in their category and second overall. With high scores earned, "Joan of Arc" was awarded a Golden Ticket to represent the USA at Worlds.
With her number "Queen," soloist Taylor Frank earned first place platinum in her category, eighth overall and earned a full scholarship to a WILD dance intensive workshop.
"From late night practices to 6 a.m. starts, our dancers work incredibly hard throughout the season," said Angela Jacobs, Director of Dance Fuzion. "I am most proud of the girls' dedication, growth and how they conduct themselves in the process. Awards are awesome, however, it's the comradery and the girls becoming stronger with each practice that means the most."
