Candidates chosen in superintendent search

The Haxtun School District Board of Education named three finalists in the search of a new school superintendent. The Board made the announcement following an application process that drew 10 applicants and a lengthy close-door meeting Tuesday evening to narrow those applicants down to the below named finalists.

The three applicants who will now go through a community meet and greet and in-person interview process are Aron Jones, Fort Morgan; Todd Bissell, Windsor; and Barry Schaeffer, Lewellen, Neb. A candidate meet and greet is slated for May 13 at the Haxtun Community Center. Candidate interviews are slated to take place on May 13 and 14 with a final selection to come on May 14. Plans are to have a new superintendent in place by July 1.

The local school district opened the superintendent position in early March following the resignation of Marsha Cody. Cody plans to complete her contract with Haxtun Schools through June 30.
