Wildcats drop to 4-13 with losses Cardinals and Bison

With just a pair of contests remaining on the regular season schedule, the Fleming Wildcats have dropped to 4-13 overall following a two losses last weekend. The Wildcats hosted the McClave Cardinals and traveled to Westminster to take on the Flatirons Academy Bison.

The week’s action started on Friday night at Fleming with a 71-37 loss to the McClave Cardinals.

Senior Will Bornhoft earned a double-double in the contest. He scored the team-high 13 points and brought down the team-high rebounds with 10 total.

Senior David Betley followed on the scoreboard with 10 points.

Freshmen Dane Cunningham and Conner Marchant followed under the net in boards with six apiece.

The following day, the team traveled to Westminster where they took on the Flatirons Academy Bison. The Bison went up by 10 in the first quarter and expanded that lead to 33 points by the close of the half.

The Wildcat offense kept pace with the home team in the second half, but couldn’t close in on the gap and took a 67-29 loss.

Betley led the Wildcats on the scoreboard for the night; scoring over half of the team’s total tally with 15 points. He also contributed seven rebounds.

Bornhoft led under the net in rebounds with seven. He brought down two offensive and six defensive boards.

The Wildcats will close the regular season this week with a road game against the Sedgwick County Cougars on Thursday and a home closer against Idalia on Friday.

Thursday’s contests are set to begin at 4 p.m. with one-half of JV boys starting the evening’s play. On Friday, a full-game of JV boys starts at 4:30 p.m. followed by girls’ and boys’ varsity.
