Bulldogs win final home game this season; prep for Merino Rams

The Haxtun Bulldogs notched their fifth win of the season in the final regular home game of the season last Friday.

The Bulldogs picked up a six-point win over the Akron Rams in one of two final contests left on the schedule before post season play begins. Haxtun hosted the Rams on Friday night in league action. The two teams met in December in the annual holiday tournament and just like the first time, the Bulldogs came out on top. Haxtun won the home game, 57.51.

According to stats from Head Coach Jayden Stieb, senior Ryland Wolff led his team with 16 points against the Rams. Sophomore Chase Goddard also put up double-digits with 10. Senior Mason Bornhoft added nine followed by freshman Madden Larsen with seven. Sophomores Colin Cone and Kanin Koberstein each put up six while senior Keegan Colglazier added four and junior Tate Michael put up one.

In the final game of regular season play, the Bulldogs are slated to travel to Merino to take on the 15-3 Rams.

According to MaxPreps, the Rams have losses to Simla in early December and most recently to Limon and Holyoke. This will mark the first meeting of the two teams in the 2023-24 season.

Once regular season play has finished this weekend, post season brackets will be released with District basketball information.
