Haxtun senior Kailin Kelley signed a letter of intent to extend his football career with Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kan. next fall. The 2024 Haxtun graduate has been a part of the Bulldog football program that notched the school's eighth State Championship as well as a runner-up title and a final four finish.
"Kailin really peaked our interest because of the tenacity and the aggressiveness that he plays with, said Justin Sullivan, KW Assistant Coach. "He really has a nose for the football and everyone can appreciate that."
Throughout his time as a Bulldog, Kelley racked up 2,037 rushing yards, averaging 7.3 yards per carry and 28 touchdowns on the ground. He also registered 302 receiving yards in his time in red and black.
On the other side of the ball, Kelley racked up 144 solo tackles and 281 assisted for a total of 425 in his high school career. He also tallied four sacks.
"Kailin will bring a good gritty way of playing football to the team. I see Kailin as a linebacker for us," Sullivan added.
Kelley was honored as Colorado High School Activities Association All-State First Team in 2024 and CHSAA All-State, Honorable Mention in 2023. He also received several All-Conference honors throughout his high school career.
While playing for the Coyotes, Kelley plans to study sports management.
"I think that Kailin can be an asset for the team on and off the field. He is equally as good of a person as a football player. Excited to see what he can do in the Purple and Gold," said Sullivan.
