In a single-contest week last week, the Fleming Wildcats added a win over the Caliche Buffaloes putting them at 1-2 on the season. The Lady Wildcats fell to the Lady Buffaloes to put them at 1-1 on the year.
The boys' team earned a narrow one-point victory in Friday night's action with Caliche, 46-45. Stats and scores by quarter for the boys' game were not reported on MaxPreps.
The girls' team kept pace in the first quarter trailing by just one after the opening minutes of play, 9-8. A high-scoring second quarter for the Lady Buffaloes gave them a 14-point advantage at the half.
The Lady Wildcats outscored Caliche in both the third and fourth quarters by four and six respectively, but couldn't close the scoring gap by the final horn. They fell 43-39.
The Wildcats are set to host their annual Winter Hoops Tournament on Friday and Saturday this week. The bracket lists a girls' contest against Flagler at 6 p.m. and a boys' contest against Flagler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gilpin County and Arickaree round out the bracket that lists a 3 p.m. tip off on Friday. Saturday's contest are set to start at 1 p.m.
