What can we reason but from what we know? -Alexander Pope
Were you among the over 300 Phillips County participants who saved over $100,000 in prescription drug costs and insurance premiums during the 2022 Medicare Part D “drug” open enrollment season? The State Health Insurance Assistance Program trained counselors worked hard to save you every dollar they could and they are ready once again!
Medicare Part D season is upon us. Enrollment opens on Oct. 15 and runs through Dec. 7. The NE Colorado Area Agency on Aging and SHIP, would like to encourage all Medicare beneficiaries to check their plans for current medications and plan changes for 2023-2024. Everyone needs to check their coverage to be sure there are no changes for 2023-2024.
A certified counselor will be available in Haxtun on Wednesdays during the open enrollment period to assist in checking what your current coverage is and enrolling you in a new plan, if needed. An appointment is required to meet with a counselor.
For appointment scheduling in Haxtun, contact Sandi Glaser at (970) 630-7713. The counseling site in Haxtun is at the Haxtun Community Center at 125 E. Wilson St. in Haxtun.
Once you have an appointment, please bring your medication bottles (or a detailed list of medications), your current prescription card and your Medicare card. Without these items the counselor cannot complete your appointment.
There are many Medicare beneficiaries who have not taken advantage of the low-income programs, or may not know about them. There is help in understanding these programs and to see if you qualify for the extra help. An additional appointment with Sandi Glaser, NE Colorado Area Agency on Aging, can be made for the application process.
Don’t forget, you should have your plan checked before the Dec. 7 deadline. Call (970) 630-7713 today to schedule your appointment. Please understand you may have to leave a message, but your call will be returned.
