Bulldogs dominate in 6-man FB action

The Haxtun Bulldogs put on a dominating show in 6-man action in Fleming on Saturday afternoon. A 59-0 win last week leaves the Bulldogs with a perfect 4-0 record heading into league play beginning Friday night. Haxtun is set to travel to Akron to face off with the 3-1 Rams in week one of Lower Platte League action.

In a stellar first quarter performance, Haxtun put 35 points on the board in Fleming this weekend. The Bulldogs added another 12 before halftime for a 47-point lead midway through the contest. Haxtun added 12 points after halftime to cruise to a 59-0 win.

The Bulldogs completed 30 plays against the Wildcats including six first downs.

Under center, junior quarterback Ryland Wolff completed two of three passes for 14 yards and one touchdown. Sophomore Colin Cone connected with one of two passes for 11 yards.

Sophomore Chase Goddard registered 11 yards in the air from one catch followed by senior Keegan Colglazier with one catch for nine yards. Senior Brock Miller caught one five-yard pass resulting in a Bulldog touchdown.

Junior Grant Statz led the Bulldogs' running game with 163 yards off four carries and three touchdowns. Kailin Kelley ran the ball four times for a total of 105 yards and two touchdowns. Kanin Koberstein registered 82 yards and one touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, the Bulldogs dominated with 77 total tackles against the Wildcats. Colglazier, Statz, Corbin Andersen and Kelley each registered 10 total tackles. Cone tallied seven followed by Seth Seger with five and Coleman Firme with four.

Friday night action in Akron pits the Bulldogs against the Rams. According to MaxPreps, Akron holds the number eight spot in all of Colorado 8-man action. Haxtun sits a number one. So far this season, Akron picked up wins over St. Mary's, Fowler and Holly but lost the season opener to Byers.

Game time in Akron is 7:30 p.m.
