Lady Bulldogs pick up win over Wray

The Haxtun Lady Bulldogs improved to 9-5 with a win over the Wray Lady Eagles on the road Tuesday night. The match up at Wray was the first for the Lady Bulldogs since they took the court at home last Tuesday, however, the team will see a quick turn around with a contest slated against Fleming this Saturday.

Haxtun came out hot in set win, taking a 25-16 win over the Lady Eagles but set two went different as Wray came out on top 25-23. The Lady Bulldogs picked up wins in set two and three, 25-15 and 25-15 respectively, for the match win. The Lady Eagles are currently 3-6 overall and according to MaxPreps, are 0-2 in league play thus far this season. Stats were not available for the Wray contest as of press time Wednesday morning.

The sports website lists the Lady Bulldogs at 9-5 overall and 3-1 in league play, putting Haxtun in the top four of the Lower Platte League behind Merino, Wiggins and Yuma.

The Colorado High School Activities Association ranks the Lady Bulldogs #12 in the State in RPI ratings. Merino hold the top spot with a perfect 10-0 record.

The Lady Bulldogs will face the Lady Wildcats in Fleming on Saturday for the second meeting of the two teams is season. The two took the court in late August during tournament play at Northeastern Junior College. Haxtun took that win in four sets.

Fleming currently holds a 7-4 record and is 2-1 in the 1A North Central League.

After the match up in Fleming, the Lady Bulldogs are set to see Yuma, Akron and Caliche over the next few weeks; all three of those league contests.

The season will round out with an away game to Kimball, Neb., a home match up with Otis and two road trips, one to Sedgwick County and the other to Weldon Valley before post season play begins.

Game time in Fleming on Saturday is set for 3:30 p.m.
