What can we reason but from what we know? -Alexander Pope
From where?
Earlier this morning I returned from, of all places, Heaven. No, I didn’t “bite the big one," “croke” or “pass on.”
I suppose that is rather obvious since I’m writing this at the moment.
While that coveted location is envisioned differently by nearly all, my idea of Heaven is a half section, 320 acres for those not familiar with the description, of Southern Colorado Sandhills. This particular morning the 12 inch tall clumps of wide bladed grass were covered in droplets of water from the light rain that was falling. It was 57 degrees out and the cattle were spread over the entire pasture, each claiming their own grazing location. My pickup slowly crept through the serene mixture of grass, sagebrush and cows, all doing their life’s work of supporting me and my family. I will admit to a little “prayer of thanks” for all I have been blessed, with wife Sue at the top of the list for keeping me alive, well cared for and out of jail, also a major contributor on all business decisions. The reason we are still in business!
As a matter of fact, before we were married, I had done such a good job of running my cattle operation that a couple of lawyers were trying to figure out how to get me out of the mess I had created. Sue had it figured out before they had a chance to bill me!
I no longer receive nasty phone calls from lenders. I am now able to join the rest of my entire family who all run cow herds successfully.
Yep, it was a nice and thoughtful trip. Hope you take time to reflect on your version of Heaven and it brightens your day as my trip did.
