Bulldog 4x100 relay brings home title and sets new school record

One state championship title and 16 other top-10 finishes is an impressive finish to the Haxtun Bulldog's 2023 track season. The track team competed in the Colorado State Track meet May 18-20 at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood.

The boys four-by-100 meter relay team made up of Ryland Wolff, Kyle Fryrear, Michael Gerk and Grant Statz took first place at the Colorado 1A State Track meet on Saturday, earning a State Championship medal while also setting a new school record with a time of 44 seconds. The previous record, set earlier this season with a team of Wolff, Gerk, Fryrear and Josh Wright, was 44.41.

The State Championship title in the four-by-100 relay is the second for Gerk and Fryrear; the two were a part of a team who finished in first place in 2021. That team also included Owen Knode and Isaac Andersen.
