Haxtun FFA competes at State CDEs

Colorado FFA State CDEs were held primarily at the Colorado State University campus on Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1. The Haxtun FFA chapter sent 26 to compete at the state competitions.

Most of the group enjoyed a game of wiffle ball in the parking lot while the Flora Culture team competed on Saturday. On Saturday night, the group went out to eat at Torchy's Tacos. They spent their night at the hotel hanging out and studying for their events the next day.

Most competitions happened throughout the day on Sunday. Once members were done, they had free time to explore campus, hang out or nap on the bus. Sunday night was the awards ceremony. There was lots of dancing in the room before the ceremony began. During the ceremony, members were awarded for their performance in their competitive event.

Of the 26 members that competed, 10 of them placed in the bronze or silver individual categories.

Results are as follows: Farm Business Management, Kelsie Hadeen, Bronze individual; Milk Quality and Products, Bronze Team, Grace Gibson and Cassidy Goddard, Silver individuals, Brock Miller, Bronze individual; Field Crops, Bronze Team, Kyle Fryrear and Michael Gerk, Bronze individuals; Land Classification, Bronze Team, Braden Plumb and Grant Statz, Bronze individuals; Livestock Evaluation, Cassidy Goodwin, Bronze individual; Ag Mechanics, Kris Hadeen, Silver individual.

Overall it was a great experience for all members who attended and returning members are looking forward to competing next year.
