Four Haxtun athletes have been selected for All-Conference designations following the completion of 2022-23 Bulldog basketball seasons. Two members of the Bulldog basketball team, Maclin Tempel and Michael Gerk, and Lady Bulldog Cassidy Goddard were named All-Conference for efforts on their respective teams. A second Lady Bulldog, Bobbi Starkebaum, was recognized as All-Conference, Honorable Mention.
Junior Cassidy Goddard, a starting post for the Lady Bulldogs, scored a total of 233 points this season. She earned a 47 percent field goal shooting average while going 51 percent from the free throw line this season. Under the basket she pulled down 192 rebounds, 74 of those on offense and 118 on defense. Goddard also registered 46 steals, six blocked shots and 21 assists.
Bobbi Starkebaum, a starting sophomore, registered 235 points for the Lady Bulldogs this season. She connected with 96 field goals for and 43 free throws throughout 21 games. The post player also netted 108 rebounds on offense and 121 on defense for a total of 229 this season. Starkebaum also tallied 18 assists, 24 steals and 11 blocked shots.
Overall the Lady Bulldogs went 7-14 this season with a final top 32 team appearance in Colorado's Regional/State playoff bracket.
Maclin Tempel, a Haxtun Bulldog starter, put 255 points on the board his senior season. He connected with 107 field goals, 17 three-pointers and 24 shots at the charity stripe. Tempel brought down 50 offensive rebounds and 149 defensive rebounds for a total of 199 this season. He also registered 45 assists, 36 steals and 34 blocked shots. In his four years as a Bulldog, he tallied 665 points and 501 rebounds on the basketball court.
Senior Michael Gerk led the Bulldogs in points this season with 302. Gerk made 131 field goal shots, eight three pointers and 32 free throws. Under the basketball he brought down a total of 159 rebounds; 90 of those on offense and 69 on defense. The senior also registered 29 assists and 43 steals in his final season with the Bulldogs. Throughout his four years on the court as a Haxtun Bulldog, Gerk racked up 673 points while pulling down a total of 351 rebounds. He also netted 74 assists, 104 steals and five blocked shots in his career.
The Bulldogs finished their season with an even 10-10 record and an appearance at Regionals as a top team in the 32-team post-season bracket.
All-Conference honors are voted on by head coaches from each team's respective league.
