The Fleming Wildcats remain in the number nine spot following a loss to second-ranked McClave and a win over Flatirons Academy last week.
The week's play opened at McClave on Friday night where the Wildcats kept pace in the opening half. Fleming came out on top by two in the opening quarter, 15-13, but trailed by one at the half, 29-28.
The Cardinal offense took over in the second half; out scoring the Wildcats by five in the third and four in the second for a 60-38 victory.
Senior Kolten Houser led the Wildcats on the scoreboard with 14 points. He shot 100 percent from behind the three-point arc for six points, nabbed another six on two-point shots and went four-for-six from the free-throw line. Senior Braylen Feather followed with 13 points in the game.
Houser and senior classmate Nolan Japp led under the net in rebounds with eight apiece. Both players split at three offensive and five defensive boards. Japp also led in assists with three.
On Saturday night, the Wildcats hosted the Flatirons Academy Bison. The two teams played a close first half with Fleming up by two, 26-24, at intermission.
The Wildcats added three points to their advantage in the third quarter and another five in the fourth for the home-court victory, 63-53.
Feather led in points, rebounds and assists for the game with a double-double. He scored 17 points off three, three-pointers and four two-point shots. Under the net, he brought down 10 boards; four offensive and six defensive. He contributed seven assists.
Houser followed on the scoreboard with 13 points. He earned 10 points on two-point buckets and made one three-pointer.
Senior Harry Harms followed Feather in rebounds with nine. He grabbed three offensive and six defensive.
The Wildcats have one game left on their regular season schedule. They are set to host the Sedgwick County Cougars on Thursday, Feb. 16. Sedg. Co. enters the contest unranked in 2A basketball with an overall 2-16 record on the year. Games are set to begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
