Lady Wildcats prepare to take on number one

After going 2-1 last week with wins over Weldon Valley and Genoa-Hugo, the Fleming Lady Wildcats prepare to meet the top-ranked Flatirons Academy Lady Bison this week.

Fleming fell to 2A's Akron Lady Rams to open the week. They kept pace throughout the game and out scored the Lady Rams by five in the third, but fell short by three overall, 41-38.

Senior Lexi Schaefer led her team in scoring with 11 points in the game. She hit three shots from outside the three-point arc.

Seniors Maddy Harms and Kally Kirkwood led under the net with seven and five rebounds, respectively.

The Lady Wildcats bounced back for a Friday night league victory over the Weldon Valley Lady Warriors. Fleming took that game on the road, 78-23.

Five players hit double digits in scoring for that contest. Lexi Schaefer led with 14; again hitting three, three-point shots. Freshman Ciana Lousberg and Kirkwood followed with 13 points apiece. Freshman Siena Donnelson added 12 points and freshman Brooklyn Schaefer added another 10.

MadiKay Serrato led under the net for the night with seven rebounds.

The Lady Wildcats kept that momentum moving into Saturday's contest with Genoa-Hugo. They earned another large-margin victory on the road; this time 47-14.

Lexi Schaefer led on the scoreboard for the third consecutive game. She tallied her high for the week with 17 points. Lousberg followed with seven.

Senior Laney Schliesser and freshman Ashley Bornhoft led under the basket with seven rebounds apiece. Kirkwood and Lousberg followed with six apiece.

The Lady Wildcats are scheduled to play at Otis on Thursday, according to MaxPreps. They'll travel the following night to McClave to face off with the third ranked, undefeated Lady Cardinals. On Saturday, Fleming is set to host the top-ranked Flatirons Lady Bison. The Lady Bison enter at 15-1 on the season. Game times all week are listed at 4 p.m.
