Firme resigns board seat

Jeff Firme submitted his letter of resignation from the Haxtun Health Board of Directors in October. Firme served the local hospital organization as a board member or a decade.

In his letter of resignation, Firme thanked Haxtun Heath employees, past and present board members and the community for allowing him to serve Haxtun Health for the past 10 years. “I know that the current board, administration and all employees will continue to make sure that our community has the exceptional level of health care that we can all be proud of,” he said.

Firme’s resignation was immediate, as of the date of his letter, Oct. 1, due to personal reasons. “Again, thank you to all that I have had the honor of working for and with during my term at Haxtun Health,” he concluded.

According to Julia Biesemeier, Chief Community Relations Officer for Haxtun Health, the organization is not under a time restraint to fill the board position left open with Firme’s resignation. She said because it is a new vacancy, it may or may not come up at the next board meeting. Biesemeier also cited Colorado Revised Statues that state there is no legal requirement to post or publish a vacancy prior to the District appointing someone to fill it nor are the requirements to fill a vacancy.

The Haxtun Health Board of Directors currently includes Chairman Kent Bamford, Vice Chairman Rod Salvador and members Jeri Soens and Rebecca Ensminger.
