Fleming traveled to New Raymer last Friday where they put a 52-6 pounding on the Mustangs. The Wildcats maintain their number two spot in Colorado High School Activities Association rankings behind number-one ranked Stratton - a team they'll take on in the final contest of the season in just two weeks.
Despite nearly matching the Wildcats in carries and receptions, the Mustang defense gave up 384 offensive yards to the Wildcats. That total more than doubled yardage earned by the home team's offense.
Rushing leader senior Nolan Japp outrushed the entire Mustang offense by 72 yards with his 173 yard performance. Japp carried the ball 14 times and scored two touchdowns on the ground. Seniors Blake Feather and Kolten Houser followed with 47 and 27 yards, respectively. Both players ran one carry in for six on the scoreboard.
The Wildcats earned 134 receiving yards off seven completions compared to the Mustangs' 86 yards off nine catches. Fleming averaged 19.1 yards per catch.
Senior Braylen Feather called the shots for the Wildcats throughout all four quarters of play from the quarterback position. He threw all seven of the team's completions off 15 attempts and threw three TD passes earning a QB rating of 117.8 for the contest.
Junior Wyatt Cochran led on the receiving end of Feather's throws. He tacked on nearly two-thirds of the team's receiving yards with 84 off three catches. Cochran grabbed two passes for TDs.
Houser also scored a receiving touchdown. He caught two passes on the night for 21 total yards.
Fleming's defense blew Prairie's defense out of the water with 64 tackles compared to the Mustangs' 26.
Senior Blake Feather led Fleming's defensive showing with 17 tackles; nine solo and eight assisted. Houser followed with 12 tackles split at eight and four, respectively.
Junior Matix Haney brought down a sack for a six-yard loss for the Mustangs. He also caused and recovered one fumble.
Braylen Feather caught his seventh interception of the season and returned it for 14 yards.
Blake Feather led on the scoreboard with 16 points in the game. He put five of six points-after attempts through the uprights for 10 in addition to his rushing TD. Japp, Houser and Cochran rounded out the Wildcats' total tally; each player scored two TDs for 12 points.
The Wildcats are set to head to Briggsdale for a conference match-up this Friday, Oct. 21 against the unranked 4-3 Falcons. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
