The Fleming Wildcats dominated the Idalia Wolves last Friday night doling out their second pounding on their home field this season. Fleming stomped North Park last week to open and gave Idalia a 44-6 beating in week number two.
Ground game between the two teams proved evenly matched with Fleming out rushing Idalia's offense by just two yards; 114 yards to 112. Fleming averaged just under a yard more per carry.
Senior Nolan Japp led the Wildcats in rushing yards with 57 on five carries. Senior Blake Feather followed with 38 rushing yards on seven carries.
The receiving game in Friday's contest told a different story. Fleming netted 255 yards in the air compared to just 41 by the visiting Wolves.
Senior Braylen Feather, the starting quarterback for the Wildcats, completed 13 of 20 passes for the night. He thew for a total of 246 yards and six touchdowns.
Braylen Feather connected with leading receiver Wyatt Cochran, a junior, four times for 91 yards. Cochran averaged 22.8 yards per catch with a long of 37 and two TDs.
Japp followed with 65 receiving yards off the arm of Braylen Feather. He averaged 21.7 yards per catch with a long of 35 yards and three TDs.
Senior Kolten Houser also caught four passes on Friday night. He tallied 56 yards to average 14 per catch.
Houser led the Wildcat defense with 12 tackles. He brought down six solo and six assisted. Blake Feather followed with nine tackles split at five and four, respectively.
Junior Matix Haney and Cochran each brought down a sack. Each resulted in a six-yard loss for the Wolves.
Braylen Feather caught two interceptions for the Wildcat defense. Those two combined with four intercepts last week against North Park put him at six on the season; an average of three per game.
The Wildcats are set to travel to Granada this week for a Saturday afternoon contest with the Bobcats. Granada enters at 1-1 on the year with a week one win over Branson/Kim and week two loss to Stratton. Kickoff on Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
