In addition to six new teachers in classrooms this fall, Haxtun Schools also welcomes two new support staff members in the technology and business offices. IT Director Perry Ingram joins the Haxtun School District in partnership with an agreement to share his role with the Holyoke School District and Debbie Myers is the new Haxtun Business Manager.
Debbie Myers
Debbie Myers grew up on a farm in eastern Colorado and has employment experience with the Arickaree and Woodlin school districts. Since 2002, she has worked in various positions with the business offices of the two area school districts. She received her office support specialist certificate form Morgan Community College and is currently working on an associates of applied science degree in accounting.
Myers served as the office manager at Woodlin School District in August 2016 and later became the business manager in the spring of 2018; a position she held until accepting the job with Haxtun Schools.
Debbie and her husband, Don, recently moved to the Haxtun community after he too recently joined the staff at Haxtun Schools. Don is currently serving as the high school science teacher. The couple have three children, including a grown son and daughter, and young daughter, Rebekah, who is in third grade at Haxtun this year. The Myers' oldest daughter, Sarah is married and lives on the western slope and works for the NRCS. The couple's only son, Elijah, attends South Dakota State University.
In her new role at Haxtun, Myers is responsible for payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, reconciling all funds and accounts, human resources paper work and managing all insurances.
"I enjoy spending time with my family," Myers said. "I enjoy watching and being a part of youth sports and I enjoy playing basketball with Rebekah."
Myers said she and her husband pursued new careers in Haxtun to relocate to a larger school for their youngest daughter having moved to Haxtun from Anton.
"My husband and I were looking to relocate to a larger school in eastern Colorado for our youngest daughter and a town closer to shopping amenities and where we could all be closer to our jobs," she said. "I am most looking forward to all of us living and working in one place and not comminuting two hours a day. I feel blessed to here in Haxtun where my family can all be together and spend more time together."
Perry Ingram
In January, members of the Haxtun Board of Education began discussing the idea of sharing an IT Director with the Holyoke School District. The Board later approved the concept, and now Perry Ingram serves as the IT Director in both schools and is officially employed through the Holyoke School District with Haxtun sharing a portion of his salary and benefits. Ingram shares his time evenly between the two schools, working on all things IT.
Perry grew up in Julesburg and earned a degree in electronics from Northwest Kansas Technical College. Before joining the Holyoke School District, he worked for Banc Tec in Denver. He now lives in Holyoke.
In his free time, he enjoys watching football and being outdoors.
"I really like the area and the people here," Perry said of working and living in Phillips County.
In his role as IT Director at both schools, he is responsible for most computer related issues.
