Fleming Town Council clarifies ballot question at special meeting

The Fleming Town Council met for a special meeting on Wednesday, July 27 at the Fleming Town Hall. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Stefan Betley at 6:30 p.m. The following council members were present: Andrew Muller, Cathy Castillo, Bill Langridge, Suzanne Wales and Bonnie Jackson. Alex Gapter was absent. Also present were Lewis Frank, Scott Szabo, Michelle Asfeld, Robin and Eric Walker (arrived at 7:06 p.m.).

Additions/Corrections to the Agenda: Betley asked to add the quote for the excavator to Action Items. A motion was made and seconded to approve the agenda as amended, all voted and the motion passed.

Public Comment: None.

Action Items: Scott Szabo of Lauer, Szabo & Associates, PC, presented the Audit Report for 2021. He said the Town is in good financial condition. Szabo thanked Lewis Frank, the Town Treasurer, for the excellent job with his record keeping. A motion was made and seconded to accept the 2021 Audit, all voted and the motion passed.

The ballot question was brought back to the Council for a suggestion and clarification. The Council chose to add clarity to the ballot question by adding the phrase “in the subsequent odd year.” A motion was made and seconded to accept the ballot question with the change, all voted and the motion passed.

The John Deere 26G Compact Excavator was briefly discussed. Betley informed the Council the excavator had been approved and the Town was just waiting for the quote.

Upcoming Events: Town Council Meeting Aug. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fleming Town Hall.

Adjournment: A motion was made and seconded to adjourn at 7:23 p.m., all voted and the motion passed.
