MATT ALLPHIN took home the top honor from the burnout competition on Saturday. The event drew a large number of entrants, leaving the crowd with a tough choice in picking a winner. Allphin won with his 1969 Nova.

CROWDS beat the heat with snow cones downtown Haxtun on Saturday afternoon. Temps soared to the upper 90s early in the afternoon and many chose their own special flavors of snow cones at a booth sponsored parents of students planning an upcoming trip.
