For their final meet before the 1A State Track Meet slated for end of this week, the Fleming Wildcat track team traveled to Limon last Saturday to compete in the 1A Invitational. The girls' team finished in second place out of 29 teams competing with 60 total points. In addition to their second place finish, the Lady Wildcats broke four 1A Track Meet records and two school records.
Top-10 placers from the 1A Track Invitational are as follows:
Girls
100-meter dash: Zoey Vandenbark, first, 13.21 - new 1A Meet record.
200-meter dash: Kally Kirkwood, first, 26.67 - new 1A Meet record; Vandenbark, third, 27.55.
800-meter run: Madi Serrato, sixth, 2:41.27.
Four-by-100-meter relay: Team of Kirkwood, Whitney Chintala, Vandenbark and Lexi Schaefer, first, 52.30 - new 1A Meet record and new school record.
Four-by-200-meter relay: Team of Kirkwood, Chintala, Vandenbark and Schaefer, first, 1:50.34 - new 1A Meet record and new school record.
Four-by-800-meter relay: Team of Maddy Harms, Maddy Zink, Serrato and Laney Schliesser, third, 11:40.16.
Triple jump: Schaefer, fifth, 57 feet.
Pole vault: Serrato, eighth, five feet, 10 inches.
Boys
1,600-meter run: Beau Ashburn, ninth, 5:46.84.
110-meter hurdles: Jack Bornhoft, eighth, 21.59.
300-meter hurdles: Bornhoft, seventh, 54.18.
