Haxtun Bulldogs headed to State Track

The final meets of the season are over and the Haxtun track team is headed to State! Several relay teams and a handful of both girl and boy participants qualified for individual events. State track will be later this week at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood. For a complete list of those who qualified for the Colorado State Track Meet, see inside this week's edition of the Herald.

Last week, Haxtun tracksters participated in three events, including the Tom Meyer Invite in Akron, The St. Vrain HOKA Invitational in Longmont and the 1A Invitational Track Meet in Limon. Top-10 results from those meets are below.

Tom Meyer Invite

Girls

1,600-meter run: Emily Anderson, ninth, 7:06.91.

100-meter hurdles: Ella Coffin, fourth, 18.37.

300-meter hurdles: Taylor Schram, 51.66; Heily Avery, ninth, 59.26; Jayleigh Bullard, 10th, 59.66.

Four-by-100 meter relay team: fifth, 55.17.

Four-by-200 meter relay team: third, 1:55.59.

800 sprint medley relay team: second, 2:05.44.

Four-by-400 meter relay team: second, 4:41.23.

High jump: Bullard, third, four feet, eight inches; Bobbi Starkebaum, eighth, four feet, four inches.

Long jump Starkebaum, fifth, 13 feet, 8.5 inches.

Triple jump: Allie Thompson, second, 33 feet, 7.25 inches.

Discus: Cassidy Goddard, first, 115 feet, 11 inches.

Shot put: Goddard, fifth, 32 feet, 8.75 inches.

The girls time placed fourth with a total of 71.7 points.

Boys

100-meter dash: Kyle Fryrear, third, 12.03; Joshua Wright, eighth, 12.31; Owen Knode, ninth, 12.39.

200-meter dash: Fryrear, second, 23.78; Michael Gerk, ninth, 24.73.

400-meter dash: Knode, fourth, 54.97.

800-meter run: David Avery, fourth, 2:13.77; Scott Engle, ninth, 2:22.13.

Four-by-100 meter relay team: second, 45.63.

Four-by-200 meter relay team: sixth, 1:45.40.

Long jump: Gerk, third, 19 feet, 4.5 inches.

Triple jump: Isaac Andersen, second, 39 feet, 5.25 inches.

The boys team earned a total of 50 points for a fifth place finish.

Girls

Discus: Goddard, sixth, 115 feet.

1A Invitational Track Meet

Girls

1,600 meter run: Hadley Feik, eighth, 7:47.15.

100-meter hurdles: Coffin, third, 17.69.

300-meter hurdles: Bullard, 10th, 58.29.

Four-by-100 meter relay team: fourth, 54.77.

Four-by-200 meter relay team: seventh, 2:00.

800 sprint medley relay team: ninth, 2:17.54.

Four-by-400 relay team: fifth, 5:09.49.

High jump: Starkebaum, fourth, four feet, seven inches; Bullard, ninth, four feet, three inches.

Long jump: Thompson, second, 15 feet, seven inches.

Discus: Goddard, fourth, 104 feet, five inches.

Shot put: Seventh, 30 feet, four inches.

The Lady Bulldogs finished ninth with 38 points.

Boys

100-meter dash: Andersen, seventh, 12.29.

200-meter dash: Gerk, sixth, 24.76.

800-meter run: Avery, third, 2:12.21; Engle, seventh, 2:22.55.

Four-by-200 meter relay team: sixth, 1:42.45.

Long jump: Gerk, seventh, 18 feet, three inches.

Discus: Osman Coss, fourth, 119 feet, eight inches.

Shot put: Coss, fifth, 38 feet, 9.5 inches.

The Bulldogs earned a total of 27 points and an 11th place finish.
