Betley takes mayoral race in recent election

Fleming’s Stefan Betley will take on a new role as Mayor. Betley was elected by voters in a polling place election last Tuesday. He has been a part of the Fleming Town Council as a member for the past two consecutive years but served on the council prior to his most recent term.

Betley ran for the mayor position against fellow council member John Stone in elections last week. Betley won the Mayor title by a 35 vote spread, 50-15. He will be sworn into office on Wednesday, April 13.

Also on the last week’s ballot were the names of three community members running for council seats including Bonnie Jackson, Andrew Muller and Bill Langridge. All three will take their seats at the council table for four year terms on April 13.

The Fleming Town Council will have three vacant seats remaining on the Council. Plans are to seek interested individuals to appoint to those vacancies in the near future. For information on seeking an appointment to the Council, call the Town Hall at (970) 265-2692.
