BBH hires Executive Director

The Baby Bear Hugs Board of Directors recently announced that Jennifer Deam will become the Executive Director for Baby Bear Hugs upon the retirement of Ruth Seedorf.

Deam has been a long-time advocate for children and families and has 15 years of nonprofit experience. She has been active at the State level on the Colorado Home Visitation Coalition and CDPHE Oral Health Project Design Team. She serves as Board Chair for the Early Childhood Council and is on the board for Rural Communities Resource Center.

Deam began working for Baby Bear Hugs as a Parenting Educator, then was hired as County Coordinator and became the first Program Supervisor after the position was created due to the growth in the multi-county program. She has also been involved with Rural Philanthropy Days, Gala fundraising and program development. After a thorough search process involving the BBH Transition team and Interview Committee, the Board made a unanimous decision to hire Deam. She began the transition on April 1 and assume the Executive Director duties on June 30.

Baby Bear Hugs began as a response to community need in 1990 and received nonprofit status in 1995 as a parenting support and education program. It has grown from a one County volunteer program to a regional program covering nine counties with 20 trained, certified Parenting Educators serving 500 families per year. Baby Bear Hugs delivers a continuum of parenting education and support programs to meet a variety of parenting circumstances and has fine-tuned methods of delivery to the needs of rural Coloradoans.
