Reta Acott

Reta Jean Acott passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022 in Greeley at the age of 89.

Reta was born Oct. 30, 1932 on the homestead in Colorado to Claude Orville McEwen and Ruby Mae (Coil) McEwen. She married Thomas Acott on Dec. 12, 1998 in Fleming. Reta had a servant's heart and as a young girl accepted the responsibility to help raise her brothers and sister and over her lifetime she was a waitress, mother, carpenter, hog farmer, dairy milker, gardener, airplane builder, helped in the printing business and was a driver and caregiver until her early 80s.

Reta is survived by her son Monte Chartier, sisters Evelyn and Ruth Ann; brother Claude; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; twin brother Rex; daughter LaDonna; and former husbands Emmett Chartier and Russel Clark.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home in Sterling with Pastor Mark Phillips officiating. Burial will be held at the Fleming Cemetery. A reception will follow the grave side service at the Fleming Community Center.
