The conclusion of the 2021 volleyball season brings a long list of accolades for Haxtun Bulldog team members. Four leaders on this year's final-four team were recently honored with post-season honors including All-Conference and All-Conference, Honorable Mention.
This year's volleyball team finished with an overall 24-5 record and a final four finish at the State Tournament several weeks ago. At the conclusion of the tournament, post-season honors were announced, including those for All-Conference players Taylor Schram, Allie Thompson and K'lyn Bornhoft and Honorable Mention recipient Ella Coffin. All four are seniors on this year's team that went undefeated at home and rolled to a third place seed in State standings heading into tournament action.
Schram, one of the teams two setters and an outside hitter, played in 97 sets in her senior season. She put down 279 kills while adding 471 assists to fellow hitters on her team. She also registered 48 aces from behind the service line. In her four years on the high school volleyball court, Schram was in 337 sets where she tallied 557 kills and 1,245 sets. In addition, she had 110 aces and 853 digs in her career.
Outside and middle hitter, as well as the team's second setter, Thompson registered 386 kills in her senior season as a Lady Bulldog. She also netted 102 blocks for her team. She registered 220 digs and added 60 aces on the season. Throughout her four years at Haxtun, she played in 336 sets of volleyball. In those, she put down 755 kills, tallied 151 blocks and sent 105 aces over the net.
Back row specialist Bornhoft made her appearance in 97 sets her senior season just as her classmates did. As libero, she dug up a total of 391 balls in the back row and registered 423 receptions on serve receive. She also added 53 aces from behind the service line her senior season. In her four year career in a Bulldog jersey, she registered 932 digs, 1,402 passes from the back row and sent over 104 aces.
Defensive specialist and outside hitter Ella Coffin dug up 270 balls in the back row on defense while also adding 127 kills in the hitting position her senior season. In her 97 sets play, she registered 82 blocks at the net and 15 aces from the service line. In her career, she played 314 sets amounting to 309 kills, 125 blocks, 707 digs and 53 aces.
All-Conference honors are voted on by coaches from each team's respective league and are announced at the conclusion of each season.
In addition to All-Conference honors, the Colorado High School Activities Association recently released All-State accolades, including several Lady Bulldogs. Thompson was named All-State First Team and Schram received All-State Second Team. Bornhoft earned All-State, Honorable Mention.
