The Fleming Wildcat football team took the week off last week following a forfeit by the Hanover Hornets. The number-five ranked Wildcats were scheduled to host the 12th-ranked Hornets on Saturday afternoon to open 6-man State playoffs, but a positive COVID-19 case forced the Hornets' forfeiture.
Fleming now advances to the quarterfinal round against the Idalia Wolves.
The Wildcats traveled to Idalia in late October where they suffered their first and only 6-man loss this season. Idalia won that game 32-24.
The Wolves went on to finish their season at 7-2 overall with losses to Stratton and Granada, the second and third ranked teams, respectively. Cheyenne Wells holds the top spot in the playoff bracket.
Last week, the fourth-seeded Wolves defeated the Briggsdale Falcons to secure their spot in quarterfinals.
The quarterfinal match up between Fleming and Idalia is slated for Friday evening, Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. Fleming will host the event.
