Julie Thayer attended her second court appearance on charges of child abuse and assault last week. The charges stem from an incident at the Haxtun Community Childcare Center earlier this year. At the time, Thayer served as the Director of the Center but has since resigned from her position.
Thayer appeared in Phillips County Court on Thursday, Nov. 4 via WebEx technology. She has yet to personally appear in the local court room in front of Judge Kimbra Killin, who is presiding over the case.
Representation on Thayer’s behalf told Judge Killin that the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office sent an offer to her client two days before the hearing, however she not had a chance to go over the document and its details with her client (Thayer) before the court date.
Judge Killin set the case over for 30 days, setting the next hearing for Thursday, Dec. 2 at 10:30 a.m. Killin told family members of one of the victims in the case, present at court, that they would have an opportunity to make a statement at the December hearing.
