Groove ‘N Motion is coming to town! In their efforts to raise local funds for a new community pool, the Haxtun Swimming Pool fundraising committee plans to host the premier powerhouse variety performers on Saturday, Oct. 23. A special meet and greet will take place for ticket holders from 5-6:30 p.m. followed by a live show at 7.
Groove 'N Motion, and the Rocky Mountain Horns, is a stylistically unique horn band that has been singing, performing and playing in sync as if they’d been together their entire musical careers.
As they bring a powerful yet polished show to the stage, their repertoire is familiar with favorite songs from the 70s, 80s and 90s as well as today's current hits. The group’s current tune list boasts 500+ tunes form all genres.
Groove ‘N Motion is powered by a five-piece horn section with two trumpets, two saxophones and a trombone; a five-piece rocking rhythm section of piano, bass, guitar, drums and percussion; and four vocalists for back-up vocals and leads.
The local event on Oct. 23 will kick off with a meet and greet at the Haxtun Community Center with Groove ‘N Motion performers along with beer, wine and whiskey tasting and light hors d’oeuvres.
Showtime will follow at 7 p.m. at the Haxtun High School. Tickets may be purchased individually or in a Splash Pad bundle of 10.
Tickets are available in Haxtun at Every Bloomin’ Thing, Haxtun Community Federal Credit Union, Haxtun Town Hall and Haxtun Liquor; or in Holyoke from Trisha Herman with the Phillips County Economic Development Cooperation and at Hometown Liquor.
All proceeds will benefit the Haxtun Swimming Pool Project. The project includes a new zero-entry pool with four swim lanes, a drop slide, one-meter diving board and a zero-entry splash pad as well as new ADA compliant bathhouse and other site improvements. Plans are to construct the new pool on the northeast end of Town, near where the current pool sits.
To date, the fundraising committee has locally risen just over $400,000 towards the project. The goal is to raise $750,000 locally in cash, pledges and in-kind donations before apply for grant funds for the estimated $2.6 million project.
