Oliver Agency donates to local Rodeo Bible Camp

As a Farmers Union Service Association agent, Becky Oliver with Oliver Agency ,LLC offices in Haxtun and Julesburg, made a $500 donation to a local nonprofit. She selected the Platte Valley Rodeo Bible Camp as the recipient.

Platte Valley RBC is held in June each year and is open to youth ages 8-18 from all walks of life, not just country kids who were born and raised with an influence in the western/rodeo way of life.

The idea for a local rodeo Bible camp began in the fall of 2004 when Duane Oster of Kersey visited with the Christian Church mission group in Julesburg. Oster spoke of what RBC involves and the blessing the camps could be to the area youth and volunteers. He was seeking an individual or group to start a rodeo Bible camp in the Julesburg area. Peggy Wegman volunteered and proceeded to learn how to complete a rodeo Bible camp. This included fundraising, as well as finding instructor participants, team leaders, board members, staff, volunteers and participants.

Platte Valley Rodeo Bible Camp has continued to grow each year. The decision was made in the fall of 2019 to move the camp from Julesburg to Holyoke.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 camp.

Board members are excited to host the 2021 Platte Valley RBC at the Phillips County Fairgrounds on June 23-26. Camp Director Jody Wiltfang noted appreciation for Oliver’s and all donations to the camp.
