Howard Duane Fix passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Haxtun Health Extended Care Unit at the age of 84.
He was born Sept. 22, 1936 in Sterling to Adolph Elmer and Ruby Lillian (Cunningham) Fix. Howard grew up in Haxtun and graduated from Sterling High School. He went on to attend Northeastern Junior College while playing football for the Plainsmen.
Howard married Barbara Hendon in Sterling on July 8, 1956. Barbara recently passed away on Feb. 26, 2021. The couple lived on the family farm south of Haxtun where they raised their four sons. Howard loved farming, showing horses, auctions and antiques. He also loved coaching pee-wee wrestling, something he did in Haxtun for nearly 45 years.
Howard is survived by his children Howard Jr. and wife Julie, Sterling, Chad and wife Lynn, St. Clairsville, Ohio, Randy and wife Vicki, Ekalaka, Mont., and Trever and wife Roxanne, Haxtun; brother Tim and wife Anne, Ekalaka; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers Bob and Richard; and granddaughter Nicki Lynn Fix.
Funeral services are set for Sunday, May 30 at 3 p.m. at the Haxtun United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeri Soens officiating.
