Four Haxtun student athletes were recently honored for their efforts on the basketball court at the conclusion of the 2021 season. All-Conference honors are determined by a vote of head coaches from each team's respective league.
Haxtun Bulldog players Ryan Tempel, Owen Knode and Bella Tori were all honored with All-Conference designations and Taylor Schram was named All-Conference, Honorable Mention.
Tori, a senior post player for the Haxtun Lady Bulldogs, averaged 10.4 points and 7.4 rebounds in her final high school basketball season. She also averaged one assist and 1.3 steals per contest. This season alone, Tori added 166 points to the scoreboard for her team while also pulling down a total of 119 rebounds, 49 offensively and 70 defensively. She totaled 14 assists and 20 steals in her 16 games her senior season. Throughout her high school career, Tori racked up 433 points and 300 rebounds as a Haxtun Lady Bulldog.
Schram, a shooting guard, averaged 9.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game this season. As a starting junior on the team, Schram also averaged 4.7 assists and 3.7 steals per contest. She totaled 159 points this season while also pulling down 57 rebounds.
Senior Tempel, a starting post player, and teammate Knode, a junior shooting guard, were both stand out leaders in both scoring and rebounding this season. The two often led their team in both rebounds and points in 2021. Career and season stats were not available as of press time.
The Haxtun Lady Bulldogs finished the season with an overall 9-7 record and a final Sweet 16 appearance in Colorado 1A State Basketball playoffs. The Bulldogs earned a spot in the Great 8 in 1A Colorado playoff basketball action while earning an overall 11-6 record.
