SCF wrestlers complete regular season

The Sedgwick County-Fleming wrestling team had a very busy week traveling to Wiggins on Thursday, Feb. 18 for a triangular against Wiggins and University. The team defeated Wiggins, 60-12, and University, 40-27. They then hit the road to Ault on Friday, Feb. 19 for a triangular with Highland and Resurrection Christian. They defeated Highland in a very close dual, 33-28, and Resurrection Christian, 48-29. They finished their week on Saturday, Feb. 20 in Wray for a quad with Wray, Dolores Huerta and Hotchkiss. The team lost to Dolores Huerta, 44-30, and Wray, 50-18, and defeated Hotchkiss, 48-36.

Individual results for the week are as follows:

Freshman Kaiden Schelling, 106-pound class: pinned Edward Ellingen of Wiggins in :44 and won by forfeit against University. Schelling lost to Highland's Elias Garcia by fall. He then defeated Tanner Strain of Resurrection Christian with a fall in 2:00. Schelling lost to Dolores Huerta's Shawn Cordova, 18-1, before defeating Daken Torrence of Wray with a fall in :49. He won by forfeit against Hotchkiss to finish his day on Saturday.

Freshman Braxton Case, 113-pound class: won by forfeit against Wiggins, University, Resurrection Christian and Dolores Huerta.

Sophomore Jack Bornhoft competed at both 120 pounds and 126 pounds. He pinned Shaelon Barnum of Wiggins in 3:18 and won by forfeit against University. Bornhoft defeated Nathan Martinez of Highland with a fall in :54 at 120 pounds. He then defeated Resurrection Christian's Hayden Sailer with a fall in 1:11 at 126 pounds. Bornhoft lost to Antonio Martinez of Dolores Huerta and Chase Buoy of Wray by fall. He then won against Hotchkiss by forfeit.

Freshman Keegan Colglaizer, 132-pound class: pinned Alex Hishinuma of Wiggins in 1:17 and defeated Chris Varela of University, 11-0. Colglazier won by forfeit against Highland and pinned Resurrection Christian's Brady Flood in 1:00 for the win. He won against Dolores Huerta by forfeit and lost to Kevin Vasquez of Wray by fall. In his final match on Saturday, he defeated Nathan Guy of Hotchkiss by injury default.

Junior Joel Muller, 138-pound class: pinned Jacob Dorren of Wiggins in 1:29 and lost to Nick Meesey of University, 10-6. Muller was defeated by Zach Tittle of Highland by fall and then defeated Maddox Bothwell of Resurrection Christian with a fall in 3:14. On Saturday, he lost to Xavier Mendoza of Dolores Huerta, 5-1, and Wray's Koy Smith, 6-1. He won against Hotchkiss by forfeit.

Junior Hayden Burr, 152-pound class: won by forfeit against Wiggins and won by forfeit against University. He defeated Highland's Greg Coy, 7-1, and Resurrection Christian's Adison Salza with a fall in 4:37. Burr defeated Kaiden Selkirk of Dolores Huerta by fall in 3:03. He then lost to Wray's Tyler Collins by fall. Burr ended his day on Saturday with a win by forfeit against Hotchkiss.

SCF will not compete again until Regionals which is scheduled for March 5 and 6 in Akron.
