The 2020 Phillips County Fair “Barn in the USA” kicks off in less than a month and recent news is that the COVID-19 pandemic will not limit evening events. According to the Phillips County Fair Board, all evening events have been approved to continue for the week-long event slated for July 21-26 at the Phillips County Fairgrounds in Holyoke.
Evening events include team roping, ranch rodeo, barrel racing, Sunny Ledfurd concert and Bulls Gone Wild Show.
“Things may look a little different than usual, but we are excited to share our good news,” fair board representatives announced on social media last week. “As we all know, COVID-19 is still around and we as a Fair Board are taking cautious steps to ensure the best safety practices for all who attend the 2020 Phillips County Fair.”
Additionally, the Fair Board has promised that there will be an open show in addition to 4-H and FFA shows. “Some of the entry procedures may look a little different with respect to social distancing,” the announcement says. “We will have more information about those guidelines closer to fair.”
Evening fair events kick off with barrel racing on Wednesday, July 22 at 6 p.m. Thursday’s lineup includes the ranch rodeo followed by the Sunny Ledfurd concert on Friday. Saturday’s entertainment includes Bulls Gone Wild as well as a beer garden and live music.
This year’s Fair will also feature a carnival from noon to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The 2020 Fair will honor Gale and Pat Wiebers, who will lead the Saturday morning parade on July 25. Continue to watch future editions of the Herald for a feature on the Weibers.
Phillips County Fair books are now available at many county busineses.
