Plumb selected for 4-H office

Brooklyn Plumb, an incoming junior at Haxtun High School, has been selected to represent Colorado State 4-H as District 1 President. The 16-year-old is the daughter of Jeff and Kindra Plumb, Haxtun.

As District 1 President, Brooklyn will represent the counties of Phillips, Logan, Sedgwick, Yuma, Kit Carson, Washington and Morgan at both the local and state levels. As part of the office, she is responsible for running all District meetings as well as organization and activities of the District. The selection as District 1 President also makes her a part of the State Officer team.

To obtain the District President role, Brooklyn was first a member of the local Phillips County 4-H Council as a Senator. That role gave her the opportunity to be a part of the District meetings, in which she recently ran for the President's role. Brooklyn said she was required to provide a speech, answer questions from interviewers and await an answer following a vote of her 4-H peers.

"I am super exited to be serving on both the District 1 and State 4-H officer teams, Brooklyn said. "I'm looking forward to meeting kids from across the State and strengthening my leadership skills."

As part of the State Officer team, Brooklyn will be tasked with helping plan four statewide conferences and attend and host workshops along with 4-H day at Stock Show and an officer retreat.
