The Haxtun School District is in search of a new Superintendent. Marsha Cody submitted her resignation to the Board of Education earlier this week. In an announcement to staff on Monday, March 4, Cody said she has accepted a position with the Brush School District for the 2024-25 school year. Haxtun Health has added a cardiologist, vascular surgeon and a certified wound care physician to the care team in Haxtun. The addition of Doctor Ehrin Armstrong brings all three specialty areas to the Haxtun community. Chief Executive Office Dewane Pace announced the addition of Dr. Armstrong in a meeting in late February. The Haxtun Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for 2023 year-end awards. Awards are given out at the annual Chamber banquet which is slated for April 15 this year. Renewable energy, migrants and dispatchers were on the Phillips County Board of Commissioners’ radar at the last two of its three February meetings. Senator Byron Pelton’s bill to enhance the criminal penalties for human trafficking won a 4-1 vote last week from the state Senate Judiciary Committee and now heads to the full Senate for debate.
