The 2020 Corn Festival quilt show featured 33 finished quilts, 12 unfinished quilt projects and nine quilts for display only. The displayed quilts were from two different charity groups. The first one was Haxtun Sew Giving, which is a group of ladies who put together lap quilts for the nursing home, quilts for cancer patients and whatever else is needed. With the Phillips County Fair in the books, it is time to add up the numbers. The community fair stand served 100s of hamburgers, cheeseburgers and slices of pie while working diligently to meet the requirements of the COVID-19 challenge. The stand raised more than $6,000 to be divided between the food banks of Haxtun and Holyoke with a portion going to help fund the transient support network in both communities.
