Strategies were shared regarding what can be done to address these concerns, such as working with local elected officials. The first presenter, who joined remotely, was...

Once again Thanksgiving is upon us before most of us are ready. This year has felt more last minute, in part due to inflationary food and travel expenses. And it sounds as if ‘over the river and through the woods’ is descriptive of either drought conditions or northeast lake effect snow measured in feet. We are in a time of unpredictability in many areas of our lives. It is why finding ways to enjoy our time together is critical for our mental, physical. And spiritual health. One thing is cer...
On Sunday, Nov. 13, I attended the Phillips County Election Integrity Symposium. The speakers were fascinating. From Tina Peters, Dr. Douglas Frank, Ron Hanks, Jeffrey O’Donnell and Jeff Young to several other patriots and even a Zoom appearance by Sharona Bishop (America’s Mom). Phillips County is a relatively small county in northeast Colorado. When we think of election fraud it is probably not the type of county that would typically come to mind. Most of us realize election fraud exists but we picture it happening in the large met...
Thanksgiving is coming up soon. I’m not sure if it is a national tradition to use the occasion to stop for a moment and think of the things we are thankful for or not. At our house, however, that’s what we do. In case that’s not how you honor the event, I thought I would share my own list with you. Maybe it will encourage you to make your own, even better, list. In these troubled financial times I am thankful to already be poor. While others mourn the loss of their villa in France, a major...

Fleming kindergartners in Mrs. Cindy Johnson's class recently shared their favorite Thanksgiving recipes. Below is a favorite from each student: Grady - turkey First get the grill going and drain the blood off the bird. Then put the turkey on the grill for five minutes. Take it off, then eat it. Harper - turkey Get the meat, heat it on the stove for like 10 minutes. I put the pepper thing on to make it gooder and spicier and add salt. You put leaves that come out of salads on it. Breck -...
It was a somber Saturday in Haxtun following a disappointing seven-point loss for the Haxtun Bulldogs. A loss that ended a 26-game winning streak for the Bulldog football program with dreams of back-to-back state championships will be felt by players, coaches, fans and the community for days and weeks to come but the culture and traditions built over the past few years will be something felt within the program for perhaps a lifetime. Haxtun's loss to Simla in semi-finals action ended the 2022...
Many life lessons, principles and values can be learned on the playing field. One of the most basic and common fundamentals ingrained in athletes is to never give up. Last Saturday's performance proved that the Fleming Wildcats understood the assignment. It was a contest that should have been the second outing between the second ranked Wildcats and the third ranked Granada Bobcats. But due to a regular season forfeit by Granada, fans weren't given a preview of what was to come in Saturday's 6-ma...
