    The Haxtun Police Department re-registered a sex offender living within Haxtun's city limits. Steven Michael Saign lives in the 200 block of North Wallace Avenue. According to the local PD, Saign is a dual resident, meaning he is registered at two locations; one on North Wallace Avenue and a another on County Road 7 in Phillips County. This is his required quarterly registration. Saign was convicted of sex assault on a child and sex assault on a child, age 15-18, by someone in a position of trust on Nov. 29, 2012 in El Paso County.     Four games in three days with a top six finish and the Haxtun Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the 2023 volleyball season on the biggest stage possible. The Lady Bulldogs qualified for the 1A State Volleyball Tournament with a home court Regional win over Belleview Christian. Haxtun entered the 1A finals bracket as the number ninth ranked team.     The Haxtun Bulldogs are one game closer to the ultimate goal. The Bulldog football team heads into semifinals action this week following a 20-8 win over Byers in quarterfinals on Saturday.     Steven Dennis Salvador passed away on Tuesday Nov. 7, 2023 in Sterling at the age of 72. Steve was born on May 31, 1951 to Harry and Mary (Reynolds) Salvador in Holyoke. Steve attended the Haxtun Schools. Steve married Pamela Ruth Hadeen on Feb. 14,1971 from this union Kevin Salvador and Robin Fugate were born.
